A little help for your art journey
Something not quite right? Find a quick answer below, or get in touch. We’d love to help you get back to the art.
Let’s start here
A few useful things to know about your photos, museum visits, and collection.
How we handle your dataArtCat can’t see my photos
Open iPhone Settings, find ArtCat, and check its Photos access. If you selected limited access, ArtCat can only work with the photos you chose. You can add more photos to that selection or grant full access, then return to ArtCat.
Why is a museum visit missing?
ArtCat uses location information saved with your photos to find possible museum visits. A visit may be missing if those photos have no location, aren’t included in your photo permission, or the museum isn’t in our catalog yet. Email us the museum’s name and city so we can look into it.
The scan is taking a while or has paused
A larger photo library takes more time to process. iOS can also pause background work. Reopen ArtCat and allow it to continue; scan progress is saved so interrupted work can resume. If it remains stuck, email us with your iPhone model, iOS version, and what the progress screen shows.
A museum or artwork match looks wrong
Photo locations and recognized text aren’t always exact, so matches can sometimes be incorrect. Use Feedback in ArtCat’s Account tab, or email us the museum’s name and a description of what looks wrong. A screenshot can help if you’re comfortable sharing one.
Why can’t search find a particular artwork?
Search uses your museum collection and text recognized in artwork and label photos. A clear photo of the label can provide useful details, such as the artist or title. If text is missing or difficult to read, a search may not find that artwork.
Does ArtCat upload my photo library?
No. Photo recognition runs on your iPhone. ArtCat uses coarse location areas to request museum candidates, while detailed photo and visit records stay on your device. Read our Privacy Policy for information about analytics, diagnostics, and feedback.
How do I suggest a museum or a new feature?
Open the Account tab and choose Feedback, or email support@artcat.app. For a museum suggestion, include its name, city, and website if you have it.
Which devices does ArtCat support?
ArtCat is made for iPhone and requires iOS 26 or later. You can find the latest compatibility details on the App Store listing.
